An unusual case of Denis Rodman

Member of the Hall of Famous and twice the best defender of the league. Alkohličar. Homeless. Female. A tireless paratrooper. Defense artist. Tattoo lunatic. Shy good fortune. All this and much more is Dennis Rodman, the most complex personality of modern basketball.

Nobody pronounced a defense game more than Rodman. When you're young, unless your dad is a basketball coach, you do not realize the importance of defending this sport. None of us probably imagined that one day he sets up for a foul in the attack or how he builds himself in a ticket after a missed opponent. Probably there were better defensive players than Crva but no one was more synonymous with that side of the floor. Whether because of tattoos, picked hair, punctured nose or anything else when Dennis Rodman was playing the defense, people paid attention ...

Energy. It's the word that best describes his game.

He was physically unreal. How many times have we heard stories about players who could stay out all night, drink bottles of alcohol, change, and two or three women, and then the next day, they will bring in 30 to anyone. The defense is something else. Will, a huge desire to stop an opponent, you do not let him point. To reach the legs of the breakthrough, to stand in the position, to fight for a position, to want a ball that is refusing from the ring more than anyone else on the field. The defense requires a certain talent, but above all a requirement to leave all the energy in the opposite, you are being severely punished especially against the best players. Rodman had an inexhaustible source of energy.

There was so much power in his organism that after the game of Detroit Pistons, but immediately after the game, he went into the hallway and drove a stationary bike for another hour or lifted weights or radio at a maximum load of the steppe for 45 minutes without stopping. He could not calm down. When Pistonsi drafted him from excitement, he fell to a medical examination. He could not pass the ECG three times. His heart was so pounding.

Even in the late years when he played for the Chicago Bulls, Phil Jackson got rid of that after full-time drunkenness, Rodman could play for 48 minutes, bite in defense and make 20 rebounds without getting caught.

He erred all the opponents while playing in Pistons. His characteristic collision with high-pitched knees seemed to be saying, "Look how happy I am to play in the NBA," he celebrated every good defense, threw himself in the crowd for each ball, threw his hands, pounded bananas, jumped into attack, and was ready to die for coach Chuck Dalya: "He was my father I did not have, I followed him in the footsteps, he did everything he said without a talk, he gave me the only chance, and my duty was to justify it at every second of the appearance on the floor" . Daly was mostly tough on Rodman and he was probably the only coach he could do with Dennis.

Rodman's journey was all but the usual way of basketball players. The organized basket played only in 22 years. In high school, he was sportingly irrelevant. He was only 178cm high. Regardless of the fact that his mother lived in the ghetto, the teacher struggled bravely to give Dennis and his sisters as much as she could. Again, Dennis, in his own confession, was a completely lost case in those years:

"I missed the streets of Dallas without much, I did not know what I wanted." "The school was not interested in me." "I was not interested in my game."

At the age of 20, he suddenly grew over 20 centimeters, but he did not have a clue about the game five to five. His sister arranged for him to play at a college, but only spent one semester. Mom snapped it and threw it out of the house. He slept in parks and with his friends, played a little basketball on the street, even worked as a janitor at the airport in Dallas before being arrested and then released for theft of watches.

Still, someone in basketball believed in a guy who was already 22 years old and had a very small chance of doing something. Lonn Reisman was the coach's name in the NAIA Division who led a small Southwestern University Oklahoma State University and believed that Rodman could do something. So Dennis went to the village. A little what was normal in his life, and so the episode in rural Oklahoma was nothing different. The Negroes treated them in that state as slaves. Strange views, assignments, insults. Rodman, who was 22 at the time, was the best friend to become a depressing 13-year-old who killed his peer during an accident.

He only wanted to talk to Dennis, so his father and mother organized dinner to meet their only friend's son. About how it all worked best tells mom's statements:

"Until I met Dennis the blacks were not interested in me at all. I did not know how they felt and how it was. He changed it" (what a beautiful woman ...)

Rodman moved to their house 15 days after dinner. A guy from the ghetto began to mow cows, drive a tractor and run night through corn fields with tethered flashlights while Dad repetts the rifle thinking that it is an alien invasion.

Competition at NAIA level was like the bankers which games Rodman puffed like Bernard King. Daly saw something else. Feeling to jump.

I've never seen two players who jumped better than Rodman and Charles Barkley. Rodman had two distinctive ways to jump. In the defense, he bought a ball with a straight leg off as if he were hitting a Maygreen imaginary protivo. In the attack, he scored the ball with his fingertips and five times until he grabbed, and the nervousness of the opposing team is at least not doubled.

Rodman thought he would stay in Pistons until the end of his career, but also that Chuck Daly would be a coach forever. With the NBA league in which there are no too many emotions, he first met on a championship parade after winning the first title. Ricky Mahorn was informed immediately after the closing ceremony that Minnesota took him on an expense draft. After the second title, the Pistons quit and the new force in the east became Cicago Bullsi. After the defeat in the play-off and the famed departure to the dressing room without greetings, the Pistons dropped off. Rodman was most affected by the departure of Chuck Daly. He allegedly tried suicide in the parking lot and gave up. He was found sleeping in the car next to a loaded shotgun in the morning. No one was able to control Dalyan Rodman's departure. He turned into a real jumping machine on the ground, but the load out of the field became too big. The tattoos were crowded and the shy guy in the short shorts became the first to start this fashion in basketball. The color of the hair shifted from match to match, and playing in Detroit became unbearable for him. He asked to change him to another team. It was San Antonio.

There Rodman was mostly out there. Coaches and management had no idea how to reach him. He did what he wanted while Bob Hill and Gregg Popovich were largely helpless in spreading their hands. He hit the opponent's head with his head, stayed in the field and after being excluded. The administration suspended him on two occasions.

He paid penalties almost every other day but still jumped like crazy. In the period from 1991 to 1998, Rodman was seven times the best jumper in the league and never went below 15 rebounds per game, and his 1992 average of 18.7 rebounds per game is one of the greatest of all time (1530 rebounds as Rodman made that year were the largest since the 1972 and Wilta Chamberlain)

Rodman, unlike the first years with Detroit, almost always played in the Spurs' position at the Wing Center. San Antonio won but in the regular season. In 1995, he played out of Houston, and Rodman then collapsed on the coach of Bob Hill over the quarrel they had when he refused to protect Hakeem: "He has no idea. He sent me on Hakeem in the first half where I entered in problems with personal mistakes, and when the match was resolved, I could not play high-quality defense and be solid enough. "

Defeat by Houston after 62 victories in the regular season and the public criticism Rodman gave on account of Hill and Popovic meant only one. The end of his episode in Texas.

Who was willing to gamble with the unruly Rodman? The other one is Phil Jackson.

True Phil initially wanted Derrick Coleman, but in the end, Rodman was the only remaining solution. Bulls did a homework, and from San Antonio in Chicago, the only friend of that team, Jack Haley, came in from Chicago, who got Rodman's trust because he did not mind drinking drinks together.

Jackson thought that next to him and the maniacal desire to win Michael Jordan Rodman would not be able to overthrow team chemistry too, and so it was. Phil still claims today that no one quickly picked up the principles of firing the attack from allegedly attacking limited Dennis Rodman. The jump and defense were at the top level. Jackson noticed that Rodman, regardless of his uncontrolled behavior, wants to be part of the team, but under some of his conditions: "He was always late for the matches, he did not want to watch scouts in front of others, usually with a towel over his head, listening to a meeting in the locker room He later asked the assistant to seek a scout and read and watch a movie while there was no one in the vicinity. He wanted to preserve the halo of a rebel and a man who does everything in his own way "

At the time Bulls broke records and achieved 72 victories in 1996, the light of day saw Rodman's biography "Bad as I Want to Be". The book was extraordinarily strange, except for the story of his relationship with women (he lost his virginity to a prostitute at age 21, and as a member of Spurs he had at least two girls in each NBA city), a relationship with Madonna (in short, she wanted she did not want that. She wanted to satisfy her orally, he did not want to) offered nothing but the confirmation that Dennis Rodman had been in the dark for a long time, and that he often considered suicide for a general disappointment the people and the sorrow that he dragged from childhood.

Chicago Bulls and Rodman won three consecutive titles.

Dennis destroyed Sonicse, Pace by an official jumprss, Orlando, Utah. Effectively defended Kemp, Malone, Mourning, O'Neal, Smitsa, Dale and Antonio Davis. In the final against Seattle he had two offensive jumps twice, prompting Coach Karl to say that Rodman himself won two games. At the same time, Rodman hit the head of the judge in the Bulls three years ago, wore wedding dresses and lipstick on his lips, shot the cameramen, and went to the kecherske matches in a pause between the two NBA finals. Jackson even hired a psychiatrist to follow him and watch Rodman's behavior in order to make a diagnosis, but the psychiatrist also raised his hands after he realized that Rodman had been in the bars and clubs at dawn five times in seven days.

After Jerry Crause broke up the anthological generation of Bulls for Rodman, there were fewer seats in the NBA. Short episodes in Lakers and Dallas where he was visibly indifferent and then a classic example of a player who does not know when the end of those engagements in the ABA League and Mexico, and a couple of appearances in Finland and England for a dollar more.

To this day, Dennis Rodman's life has remained one of the great bubbles in which his normal part can not completely sink to the surface. Just when it seems that some stability has entered its closeness, it is trying to destroy it. The father recently met in the Philippines for the first time in 40 years and talked briefly (Rodman has more than 27 brothers and sisters, most of whom he never saw in his life). He started talking again with his mother after seven years, after registering at the alcohol withdrawal clinic, but immediately signed a contract to get rid of the show on the subject.

He does not usually see his children and he regularly admits that he is a desperate father, but he does not do anything to correct it. Advertises vodka and means for treating hangovers, at the same time, the ex-wife owes 800 thousand dollars in the name of alimony and the cost of raising children. Although he kept saying that the NBA bureaucrat would never vote for him at the Hall of Fame, it still happened. A man who equally defended every position and every one of Wade Webb to Shaquille O'Neal got his moment of absolute basketball recognition. He cried during the speech for his life and for those who were not among the living at the moment, and which meant a lot to him.

His latest adventure is the peace mission in North Korea and watching NBA games from the 1980s with dictator Kim Jung-un, which he found to be "great dad" and "his friend for the rest of his life".

In the meantime, when doctors inserted the data of legendary Rolling Stones Keith Richards into the computer, the feedback was that he was dead for 30 years. Dennis Rodman's last book is called "I should have been dead so far" ... he is still alive, and currently you can find him in Pyongyang as a North Korean national team coach ...
